Welcome to the Department of Computer Science
The Department of Computer Science includes the study of the theory, design, and implementation of algorithms for processing information. Efficient implementation may include the design of software, hardware, or both. The Computer Science program at Texas Tech University emphasizes the integration of the software and hardware aspects of problem solving.
The Computer Science curriculum covers all aspects of computer science and includes a strong emphasis on writing, communication, and the development of other professional skills. The Computer Science department consists of 21 Faculty, 7 staff, 189 Undergraduate, 85 Master (75 MSCS, 10 MSSE), 31 Ph.D. Students.
The on-going graduate site in Abilene have led the department into a new level of activity in both teaching and research. One classroom has been adapted for long distance teaching; this, and one additional classroom are properly equipped to conveniently hook up students' laptops. In addition, improvements in the CS conference room to install multimedia equipment will definitely help in the integration of our Abilene site.
