CS-3371-001 Embedded Systems Design

This semester we will cover the engineering design considerations for designing embedded special purpose dedicated computer based systems. We will consider HW and SW tradeoffs for both low cost consumer type products and high end systems such as used in aerospace applications. We will consider cost factors, timing issues, SW time and space issues, I/O optimizations and cost effective solutions. Students will design an embedded system and demonstrate it using SW simulation tools. We will focus on the Microchip PIC16F84 since it is representative of the type of processor used in many low end embedded applications.
